Client: English Heritage/Focus Consultants Ltd At a Grade I listed site with strong connections to the Elizabethan court, our work encompassed design and build exhibitions in Leicester’s Gatehouse and the Stables, as well as exterior interpretation and wayfinding graphics. For this complex multi-layered site, we worked closely with the English Heritage team to evolve the interpretive scheme, coordinating and advising on content development. The design approach emphasises the building’s character and features by keeping exhibit structures minimal and the overall design palette muted. Whilst maintaining sympathy with the historic fabric, important objects are displayed within museum-quality environments to high conservation and security standards. These include significant letters exchanged by Robert Dudley and Queen Elizabeth I.
