Viking & Medieval Gallery, Manx Museum, Douglas, Isle of Man
Manx National Heritage is creating an island-wide interpretation of ‘The Story of Mann’. As part of this programme, the Viking and Medieval galleries at the Manx Museum in Douglas have been refurbished to ensure that the rich material culture is displayed and interpreted in an engaging and appropriate manner. Having previously designed the Isle of Man’s multiple award-winning House of Manannan visitor centre, Haley Sharpe Design developed a dynamic visual language for the refurbished Viking and Medieval gallery spaces. Storylines linked to the museum’s rich artefact collection were formulated in conjunction with curators to ensure that visitors make strong links between archaeological finds and the landscape of this evocative island.
