Experience Northumberland at Woodhorn, Northumberland, UK
Working closely with the client team and architect, we submitted a successful strategic Stage 2 HLF application and then implemented all the interpretive elements of this project. Within a country park, the scheme draws together the former Woodhorn Colliery Museum and Northumberland County Archive, with new art galleries and the colliery's surviving historic buildings.
Involving the intensely proud local community was central to the development of the Woodhorn project. Haley Sharpe Design undertook consultation and evaluation work, and based the storyline around the creative short stories of five local writers, coupled with artefact collections.
